Well if you compare these sales to those of the previous entries a very worrying sign emerges.
- Dragon Quest IX sold 2,353,440 in its first week.
- Dragon Quest VIII sold 2,237,000 in its first week.
- Both of these numbers pertained to two days worth of sales.
- Dragon Quest X sold 420,311 over a 4-day period.
It’s likely down to the controversial nature of it being the first MMO Dragon Quest title. The game is scheduled to launch on the Wii U, but not date or further details have been confirmed. The rest of the top 10 compirses of Nintendo titles, which some such as NSMB2 and Onitore pulling in impressive numbers.

It’s not all bad news. The Wii sees its highest sales for over a year, and the 3DS XL continues to sell like the Japanese equivalent of hot cakes!
