Did you know much of the Resident Evil series, including some of the most recent releases, are playable on mobile now? Well…there’s a catch; the mobile device you’re using has to be Apple-branded. Capcom has published Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil Village and, as of this week, Resident Evil 3 on iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers.
By Resident Evil 3 we don’t mean the original, we refer to the HD high-poly 21st century remake. This is part of the reason why Apple got the exclusive here. Only iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro models have the horses to run it, as well as any iPad and Mac with the M1 chip or later. If you’ve got one of those, you can take Jill anywhere.
Resident Evil 3 follows S.T.A.R.S. officer Jill Valentine in her desperate journey to escape the viral outbreak spreading through Raccoon City. The game delivers a unique strain of survival horror based on the fear of being pursued by a relentless force, the Bio Organic Weapon known as Nemesis. Powered by Capcom’s RE ENGINE, this vivid reimagining of the original game delivers action-packed gameplay and bone-chilling visuals with detail and fidelity that can only be realized by today’s current technology.
Unsure if RE3 is really going to work with touch controls? Capcom offers a free demo on the App Store so you can try it out and see what you think. The Apple version has fully customizable touch controls, plus an Auto Fire feature on the iPhone and iPad that lets you automatically fire weapons after aiming at enemies for a short time. But the game also supports most game controllers that connect to Apple devices, so if you have one of those, use that instead.
Resident Evil 3 is available now on the App Store, at a temporary launch discount. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 7 biohazard, and Resident Evil Village have also been discounted this same week, at prices up to 75% off.
