Vive Studios Launching Three Games In March, Including VR Sportss
Vive Studios is releasing three new games for its virtual reality headset this month. VR Sports is a Wii Sports-like offering that gives players the chance to experience a variety of different activities, whilst Front defense is a World War II shooter. Finally, MakeVR is a 3D modelling program that was created by Sixaxis that was originally created for another piece of hardware but has been converted to workon the HTC Vive.
Vive Studios was set up by HTC in 2016 to act as the company’s own in-house development studio. As well as creating their very own games for the HTC Vive, the studio will also act as a publisher so that they can get content developed by other studios onto the platform to give players a wider selection of titles to choose from. The first game released under this name was Arcade Saga, a collection of games that were inspired by 80s arcade classics such as Breakout, Galaga, and Arkanoid.
HTC described the studio as not only a games developer but explained it would also specialize in “education, cinematic, design, social, real-estate and sports, as well as tools and applications that can revolutionize areas such as media, retail, healthcare, and location-based entertainment centers and arcades.”
