SUMMARY: A doctor sedates his patient and believes that he hears him confessing a crime. He is in a dilemma about what to do. Should he: (a) probe further to make sure the patient wasn’t just mumbling about something he was dreaming; (b) violate doctor/patient confidentiality and report the matter to the police; and (c) remain silent considering his own safety and do what needs to be done to protect himself?

♦ My Patient Just Revealed Something Shocking!

In “Bluebeard”, Seung-Hoon used to operate a clinic in Gangnam, but the clinic went bankrupt. His financial failure led to a marriage failure. He is broke and alone but manage to get a job as a physician at a hospital in Seoul. Since he doesn’t have much money Seung-Hoon doesn’t socialize much, eating out, etc. He is indulging himself by reading a mystery masterpiece series, unaware that he is about to become involved in a real unsolved murder mystery.

A series of recent murders have gone unsolved, along with a murder from 15 years ago. After sedating one of his elderly patients, he believes that he hears him make a confession. He was just trying to resettle himself and get his life back on track. What should he do?

The sedated elderly patient and his son own the butcher shop in the same building where he rents an apartment. The patient mentioned something about a severed head being in the refrigerator. The revelation was so frightening that he began to look at the butcher and his son with suspicion. Shortly after that, he heard of a news report where a headless body was found in the Han River. That just aroused his suspicion even more. The behavior of the butcher’s son is kind of creepy, and that adds to his doubts and fears.

What makes the situation even more complicated is that his personal failures in life have him sort of suffering a mental breakdown. As if he does not have enough stress, now he must deal with the possibility that the killer knows that HE KNOWS. What will the killer do?

My personal rating is the same as My Drama List.

It seems “Bluebeard” was inspired by the Hwaseong serial murders, one of the most well-known serial killings in South Korea that occurred from 1986 to 1991 (or 1994?). When the killer, Lee Choon-jae, was finally captured, he said he was surprised the law enforcement officials did not catch him sooner. The murders had been unsolved for three decades.

Inspired by the Hwaseong murders? Sign me up! I've read about that case, it's fascinating and chilling. Hopefully, the movie does a good job exploring the psychological impact on the characters caught in the web of the murders. Wonder how much creative license they took with the story?

This sounds right up my alley! A psychological thriller with a doctor stumbling onto a potential serial killer? Intriguing! Love the moral dilemma - report it and risk being targeted, or stay silent and live with the guilt? Hope the suspense keeps me guessing throughout.

Hmm, a horror movie based on a real-life unsolved case? That could be creepy, but might feel disrespectful to the victims. Also, 6.4 rating on IMDb isn't super high. Maybe the horror aspect is more psychological mind games than jump scares? I might need to be in the mood for something slow-burning.

Is this a horror drama? I'm not a huge horror fan, but the mystery part sounds interesting. Free on Samsung TV Plus sounds good! Maybe I can convince a friend to watch it with me for some spooky Halloween fun... but with the lights on, just in case.

Doctor-patient confidentiality is a huge deal. This movie sounds like it explores the ethics involved in a really intense situation. Curious to see how the doctor grapples with the moral dilemma and the potential consequences of his actions. Might be a good watch for anyone in the medical field.

I love a good slow-burn psychological thriller. Sounds like "Bluebeard" might fit the bill. Hopefully, the suspense builds gradually and keeps me guessing until the end. The inspiration from a real case adds another layer of intrigue. Will definitely check out the trailer!
