Hide (2024) ~ Spouses Should Talk to Each Other

Hide” is a 2024 Viki Original Korean drama series, with 12 episodes, and categorized as a Crime and Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Legal Drama, and Melodrama.

So? My Husband Was in Big Trouble?

In “Hide”, Na Moon-Young leads a wonderful married life. It is a sharp contrast from her childhood. She has a vague memory of her father coming into her bedroom while she was half asleep, saying that he had to die for her to live. Her other memory is fainting when she approaches the dead body of her father in a morgue.

But now Na Moon-Young is a former prosecutor who now works as a lawyer with her husband, also a lawyer, at a prestigious law firm he manages for his father. They have two loyal employees and everything seems to be just fine. Until …

One day her husband, Cha Sung-Jae, leaves home and never returns. A wrecked car with a badly burned body is found and it is believed to be him. Na Moon-Young refuses to accept his death, even though there is a suicide note. She wants an autopsy done and she wants the police to investigate.

Na Moon-Young repeats the horror of a tragic event for the second time in her life. Just like with her father, she faints when she approaches a dead body in the morgue, that is supposed to be her husband. By the time she regains consciousness, they are having her husband’s memorial services. His body is being cremated.

Na Moon-Young later learns that it looked like her husband had prepared for his death by leaving behind cash he had hidden in their closet, and a hefty insurance policy making his wife the beneficiary. That does not matter. She still wants to investigate why her husband has disappeared. He disappeared. He can’t be dead!

A young man named Do Jin-Woo seems to know things about her husband and his business dealings that would clear things up for her. It won’t settle the matter because everything about her husband has become unsettling.  They agree to meet at a certain location but when she gets there she hears loud gunfire!

Who’s shooting? Where is Do Jin-Woo? WHAT’S HAPPENING??!!!

Main Characters:

  • Na Moon-Young (played by Lee Bo-Young, “Agency”)
  • Cha Sung-Jae (played by Lee Mu-Saeng, “The Silent Sea”)
  • Do Jin-Woo (played by Lee Min-Jae)
  • Ha Yeon-Joo (played by Lee Chung-Ah, “Celebrity”)

Where to Watch

Viewership and Rating:

My personal rating is the same as the Viki viewers.

The acting was excellent and there is one obvious takeaway from “Hide”.

IMAGINE: Your husband, who is supposedly dead, was working with another business on a major case. You go to that business to find out more about what was going on and what was your husband’s role; and the person at the company almost chokes you to death, because he’s already pissed about something your husband did, and he won’t tell you! Wouldn’t you want some answers?

TAKEAWAY: Yes. We all have our secrets. But married couples need to talk to each other. It’s very cruel to leave your spouse in the dark, especially when you did dangerous things and disappeared!

Na Moon-Young's determination to uncover the truth about her husband's disappearance is gripping. I'd probably be on edge too if my partner vanished under suspicious circumstances. Communication is key in any relationship, and this series seems to highlight the consequences of keeping secrets from loved ones.
