This adaptation, unlike many others that are based on books, comic books, or old TV episodes. The Machine originated from a stand-up comedy routine by Bert Kreischer. It’s notable that A Twilight fan fiction and a tweet feed inspired movies. Anything can be a source material if discovered by the right people. Thanks to the power of word of mouth, Kreischer’s skit went viral and caught the attention of Legendary Entertainment. Yes that company famous for producing epic Kaiju movies. They acquired the film rights to the routine, and the result promises to be something truly unique.
One thing that sets “The Machine” apart is that Kreischer will be playing himself , adding a meta twist to the story. It’s not the first time an actor has played themselves on screen, of course – John Malkovich and Nicolas Cage have both done it before. But with a talented cast that includes Mark Hamill as Bert’s father, Jessica Gabor as his eldest daughter, and Jimmy Tatro as a young version of himself, the film is sure to be a hit.
Directed by Peter Atencio, whose notable past projects include the hit TV show “Key & Peele” and the film “Keanu,” “The Machine” promises to be a hilarious and entertaining ride.
