The Iron Oath: New Kickstarter Project Update
A new project update was posted on Kickstarter for the upcoming turn-based tactical RPG by Curious Panda that is The Iron Oath. The new update include information on damage, resistances, vulnerabilities, and conditions within the game. You can find the full update notes at the above link.
According to the developer, the game will have the following 11 damage types: Earth(Nature), Force, Fire, Frost, Holy, Dark, Necrotic, Lightning, Slashing, Piercing & Blunt. Most of the in-game classes will have only one damage type. The hybrid classes, like Paladin and Pyrolancer, previously had two types of damage, but they now only have one for balance and clarity.
Additionally, every class and enemy in the game has one Defense Stat that will determine the base damage mitigation within the game. Characters that wear heavy armor and have higher Constitutions will also have a greater Defense. Both block and dodge are going to be rolled into the same Evasion stat. This will determine the way a character can possibly avoid taking damage.
Additionally, the game will not have a strict hard counter relationship between damage types. All enemies in the game will have Vulnerabilities and resistances. These will determine what enemies are weak against or strong against. Some enemies might not have any Vulnerabilities or Resistances. Some might have quite a few. None of the game’s character classes will have any type of Vulnerabilities or Resistances. They will take normal damage from all enemy attacks.
Each character class in the game will have on type of ability that has some sort of condition attached to it. Curious Panda revealed that these conditions are as follows: Bleed, Poison, Stun, Charm, Sleep, Freeze, Burn, Silence, Fear, Blind, Taunt, Slow, Root. The power of the conditions will depend on the ability that they are attached to, and some will even have some extra effects.
The update also revealed that the Grappler class will soon be revealed for The Iron Oath. The game still has 21 days left to go on its campaign to reach its initial pledge goal of $45,000. Currently, the project has raised $29,603, so it is nearly there. The next reward that Curious Panda is shooting for is alternate skins for every class.
