The Emperor’s Own Launches Crowdfunding Campaign
Russian game developer Volga Studios is hard at work on The Emperor’s Own, a story-driven RPG due out in 2021. They’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to cover the cost of development, and they need your help to reach 100 percent.
The game takes place in an alternate version of 19th century Russia, though the situation parallels what it was actually like back then. The gulf between the rich and the poor is massive, and civil unrest is starting to break out against the leadership. You are Cornet Alexander Obolenskii, a young officer with the Secret Intelligence. Your unit governs over all others, and only the Emperor can dispute your orders. Will you side with the rebellion or with the status quo? You’ll have the freedom to do either, though we can’t see why anyone would pick the rich side in this scenario.
You can guarantee a digital copy of The Emperor’s Own with a pledge to Volga Studios’ campaign. The Early Bird tier is still open, so you can get the game for $25 (if you read this when it’s NOT open, the cost is $30). Pledging $40 gets you the soundtrack, a digital artbook and map. To become a tester for the game, select the $50 tier.
And if you want to try before you buy, a free alpha demo of The Emperor’s Own can be downloaded from Steam through this link. The Emperor’s Own is due out in early 2022 for Steam.
