Alien TV Show Coming To FX And Hulu
In the summer of 1991, Fox put out a rather misleading teaser announcing Alien 3. The narration suggested the third movie would be about the creatures reaching Earth…a logical progression of the story, but not what they went with. Instead, the draft described in the teaser was thrown out and a depressing yarn about Ripley being marooned in space prison was substituted instead.
But if what we heard today at Disney’s investor call is true, we could get something similar to Alien 3’s original plot very soon. It just….won’t be a movie. The Alien saga is heading to television for the very first time, in a yet-to-be-titled series that will premiere on FX and Hulu.
Alien is currently in development at @FXNetworks. The first TV series based on the classic film series is helmed by Fargo and Legion's @noahhawley. Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth. pic.twitter.com/jZe1CRFAZD

Noah Hawley has been put in charge..the man previously responsible for both the Fargo show and Legion. Both those shows have wildly different tones and taking on something like the Alien universe is another dramatic shift. Hawley says the series will take place “not too far in the future”…which raises questions, as the Xenomorphs don’t reach Earth at any point in the current timeline. So it has to be farther in the future than at least Resurrection, and that’s pretty far.
