The Defenders: Elodie Yung Returns as Elektra
Marvel Studios has dropped some more casting news today for the upcoming TV series for The Defenders. It’s likely not a huge surprise, but Marvel has confirmed that Elodie Yung will be back in the upcoming show as Elektra. You can check out the reveal tweet Marvel shared on social media below.
The reason it’s not so surprising is that all signs have been pointing to The Hand as being involved with the show, along with Stick and his own band to stand against the hand in the Chaste. However, the way things were left with Elektra at the end of Daredevil Season 2, her involvement and return for The Defenders is pretty well expected and predictable in a way. However, it still remains to be seen who the major villain of the show will turn out to be, as she’s played by Sigourney Weaver.
Yung joins a steadily growing cast featuring characters from all across the other Netflix shows. This includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeryn Hogarth, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, and of course, Sigourney Weaver as the unnamed villain.
The Defenders arrives later in 2017 on Netflix. The show will be an eight-part series. All eight episodes of the show will be available on the streaming service at launch.
