Teaser For Freeform’s Cloak And Dagger TV Series

It’s been known for a while that a TV show based on the Marvel comic Cloak And Dagger has been in the works, but this is the first time we’ve gotten to see any of it. The official teaser was released this morning.

As in the comics, Cloak and Dagger are the superhero names of Tyrone and Tandy, two youngsters from opposite worlds (speaking in terms of class) who develop opposite powers (light and dark-based) yet find themselves fighting together (because opposites attract and all that). What’s different this time is that Tyrone (Cloak) comes from a privileged background while Tandy (Dagger) has to steal to survive — that’s a switcheroo from how their lives were in the comics.

As for their powers….Tyrone can use his cloak to teleport through space via a power called the Darkforce, and Tandy can generate daggers made of pure light and sling them at foes before they know what’s going on (after all, nothing’s faster).

One other thing: Cloak and Dagger had a minor role in Byron K. Vaughn’s original Runaways run. Now that TV shows based on both properties are going on at the same time, a crossover would be a no-brainer, right? The only obstacle would be the fact that Runaways is on Hulu and Cloak And Dagger will be on Freeform….if it’s an obstacle at all.

Cloak And Dagger premieres June 7.
