The Suicide Squad director, James Gunn answered the question of a fan.
How much of this movie will be what you want it to be? Warner Bros. has a knack for editing a movie into shit.

He is full of enthusiasm and positivity when he answered the question. He said that DC Comics gave him some notes, and after that, he has all of the creative freedom in the world to do everything he wanted.

Marvel and he had a lot of creative differences during the filming of Guardians of the Galaxy. That leads to his controversial firing, but it got a backlash from the fans got him reinstated. James Gunn seemed to have a better experience working with DC and Warner Brothers. He previously worked with Warner Brothers with the videogame Lollipop Chainsaw.
The Suicide Squad is a team of captured supervillains who are under the control of politician Amanda Waller. She made them do her bidding by surgically inserting remote-controlled bombs on their heads. With the exception of big names like Harley Quinn , Joker and Deathstroke most of the characters are D-list supervillains. It is not a sequel of Suicide Squad despite of the fact that Margot Robbie , Viola Davis and Jai Courtney reprised their roles as Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang and Amanda Waller. It is set on an alternate Universe. James Gunn can kill of characters with no repercussions because they can still return in another movie because this is from a different dimension. The Harley Quinn from this film is different from the one from the first movie and the one from The Birds of prey.
The movie will be available at HBO Max this coming August 26. It will be in some selected theaters in places where the Pandemic have subsided. The Covid 19 Pandemic made DC and Warner Media to release all of their films on HBO Max.
