It took ten years, but someone found a dummied-out extra play mode in Mario Kart Wii — the game released BEFORE Mario Kart 8, with a “Wii Wheel” accessory because extra peripherals were in at the time. It was one of the Wii’s biggest sellers, but somehow an extra section remained hidden all this time.
The Nintendo Switch is set to officially launch on March 3 at a price of $299.99 / £279.99. The cost is slightly more expensive than many pundits had and fans had expected. The launch will happen in major European countries, Japan, US, Canada, Hong Kong, and other select territories.
Over the past few days, a new video depicting what appears to be a prototype for a Mario Kart game on the Game Boy Advance has been going viral. The demo itself looks very early and not all that fun to play, but what’s interesting about it is the fact that it uses two different Mode 7 planes to create a greater illusion of depth. This necessitated changing the angle so that not all of the approaching track could be seen.

The Wii U has been on shelves for eighteen months now and it’s not exactly a secret that the Nintendo console is struggling to sell or compete with the PS4 and Xbox One. If there’s one sure-fire way to save the Wii U, it’s the first party Nintendo exclusives, the latest of which is Mario Kart 8.
Mario Kart 8 helped the Wii U to sell four times as many units as the previous week before release. Speaking to Polygon Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime explained that as well as increasing the number of consoles sold, almost 1 in 5 of those who already owned the Wii U purchased the game.
