Nintendo has announced a new partnership with toy maker Hasbro to produce toys based on their Legend of Zelda series. The first of these figures will be due out in 2027, they say, which is by no coincidence the same year Sony and Legendary release the Zelda movie.
“For decades, The Legend of Zelda franchise has captivated fans through its deep lore, unforgettable characters and enduring sense of discovery,” said Hasbro president of toys and board games Billy Lagor. “By combining Nintendo’s iconic storytelling with Hasbro’s leadership in action and role-play, we’re delivering toys that invite fans to play, explore and forge their own epic adventures.”
The question is, will these be styled after the video game characters, or will they look more like Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason, the actors in the movie? We won’t have to wait long to find out: Hasbro plans to reveal “three six-inch scale figures” at San Diego Comic-Con next week. If they are indeed modeled after the movie, this would make for our first real look at the aesthetic of it.
Nintendo and Hasbro say this is a multi-year deal, so even if they are movie figures, there are most likely game-related figures in the works. And since Hasbro makes more than just toys, there might be foam Master Swords, Hylian Shields and Fairy Slingshots. Maybe a drone Navi that buzzes around you all day and shrieks “HEY! LISTEN!” Don’t put it past them; Nintendo made the Talking Flower real.
The Legend of Zelda movie will open in theaters April 30, 2027. We should be getting these figures around that time. We’ll follow this up next week when we actually see them.
