indiana jones 5
Disney and Lucasfilm just revealed the title of the fifth and final (?) Indiana Jones film, and it’s an odd one. We have no idea what “The Dial Of Destiny” means other than the possible Maguffin of the picture. My first thought when seeing it was that Indy must be desperate to find soap.
Indiana Jones 5 has taken so long to make that some people are wondering if Harrison Ford will die before they can get around to finishing it. As of now, that’s no longer a possibility (unless they need reshoots). James Marigold, director of the movie, and Frank Marshall, producer, both confirmed yesterday that every scene has now been shot, and it’s now just a matter of finishing the VFX, which apparently takes more than a year. The release date isn’t until the summer of 2023.
Indiana Jones 5 is currently filming. Many fans thought this IP is dead.
When we previously checked in to the status of Indiana Jones 5, it had been taken off Disney’s release schedule completely due to a rework of the script. Unhappy with the current version, the Mouse pulled in Jonathan Kasdan (son of the scriptwriter to the original Raiders film, Lawrence Kasdan) to punch it up.
A few months ago, Disney announced Indiana Jones 5 was on their schedule, due out July 10, 2020. Shooting would have begun next April on the film, with Harrison Ford set to reprise the role. Now that’s not happening, at least not as soon as they planned.
You’re getting an Indiana Jones 5 whether you want one or not. It’s been a while since we heard from the project, but Steven Spielberg confirmed it was still on during his acceptance speech at the Rakuten TV Empire Awards. Coming Soon transcribed the speech:
