Supergirl To Be Put On Superhiatus
The CW has released to the press its latest moves in the dynamic juggling act that is its schedule. When you have only five days a week and two hours a day and you rarely ever cancel anything, it gets harder and harder to fit everything in.
You may have heard yet another DC superhero series, Black Lightning, is coming this January. How will they find room for it? It’ll take the place of Legends of Tomorrow for one month, at which point Legends will return and bump Supergirl off the schedule. Kara Zor-El won’t be back until that April, and won’t finish her season until the middle of June. TV Line laid all this out in a simple bullet list:
Monday, Jan. 15: Supergirl resumes Season 3
Tuesday, Jan. 16: Black Lighting premieres, in Legends time slot
Monday, Feb. 12: Legends resumes Season 3, in Supergirl‘s time slot
Monday, April 9: Legends Season 3 finale
Monday, April 16: Supergirl re-resumes Season 3
Monday, June 18: Supergirl Season 3 finale
This is only a partial glimpse at The CW’s spring scheduling — they still have to fit the latest seasons of iZombie and The 100 in here somewhere. They also committed themselves to one more season of The Originals, which we’re theorizing will be pushed into the summer. But we’ll see what they do. Should be interesting (and confusing). Sorry, Supergirl fans.
