The Star Wars universe (before and after Disney bought Lucasfilm) has always been more than just the movies. And through this extensions we’ve gotten some truly memorable characters. There’s Kit Fisto, Mara Jade, and so much more. Even the video games have given us some memorable characters, including the man known as Starkiller. The name was originally meant to be Luke Skywalker’s last name, but was deemed too violent for the movie. But, when The Force Unleashed came to be, the name was brought back up. The character was the secret apprentice of Darth Vader, and according to a certain actor, he was almost put into Star Wars Rebels.
That would’ve been one heck of a crossover, and one of the few inclusions that have happened directly from the video games and nothing else. Ironically, in The Force Unleashed, Starkiller had a hand in creating the Rebel Alliance, whereas here, according to voice actor Sam Witwer, he was going to be one of the Inquisitors:
“Dave [Filoni, executive producer] did share with me, by the way, he considered making Starkiller an Inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels,” Witwer said in a Twitch Stream. “It didn’t quite fit the story they were telling, but he did think about it because he thought that would be interesting.”
It would be interesting for numerous reasons, not the least of which is The Force Unleashed, and its sequel, are deemed non-canon, and thus his inclusion could’ve gone beyond that story. Sadly, we know his inclusion won’t happen in Rebels as the series will end with the upcoming fourth season.
Oh well, at least he had a base named after him in The Force Awakens.
