Star War Rebels Has Come To An End
Star Wars Rebels was born under the worst circumstances possible. Not only did it have to follow up the beloved Clone Wars series, it was the reason that series got abruptly canceled. And though it may have had a rocky start (which Clone Wars did as well if you recall), it soon made its place in the Star Wars universe. But, as with all stories, it had to end, and now, it has.
WARNING! Spoilers for the Series Finale of Star Wars Rebels ahead!
There were a lot of questions going into the finale, and for the most part, they were answered, but maybe not in the way you expect.
The final three episodes, “A Fool’s Hope” and “Family Reunion and Farewell” focused on Ezra and the remaining Ghost crew gathering up what allies they could so that they could free Lothal from the Empire’s clutches once and for all. It was great seeing the collection of key characters come back for one last battle, and it was an intense one throughout.
There was even some surprise cameos, including Emperor Palpatine (in the flesh…so to speak), and some “old friends” who definitely stole the show with the “impact” they made.
But of course, things couldn’t go all to plan. Thrawn nearly bombarded Lothal into oblivion, and to ensure his people stayed alive, Ezra made the ultimate sacrifice. With his opening, the Ghost crew were able to blow up the remaining Empire forces and free Lothal for good.
A touching epilogue came next, and it revealed that Lothal thrived with the Empire gone. Key characters got their happy endings, Hera had a child…that as Kanan’s. But the biggest shocker was that Sabine began a journey with Ashoka Tano to go find Ezra, who is apparently still alive.
This was a very memorable finale, and one that will be honored by many Star Wars fans for a long time.
So thank you for all who made Star Wars Rebels happen, we thank you, and may the Force be with you, always.
