Stan Lee Talks Captain America Comic Controversy
Recently, during the launch of the Captain America featuring Steve Rogers, who had given the mantle to Sam Wilson after being trained of the super soldier serum, it was revealed that Steve Rogers was a sleeper agent for Hydra. Apparently.
THis “decision” has sparked outrage all across the internet, and possibly the world, as fans are calling this a mere “money grab” or an attempt to boost sales. Everyone has an opinion. Including a certain Marvel legend.
Stan Lee was at MegaCon in Orlando when he was asked about the Captain America Hydra twist, his answer was very true to who he is:
“I don’t know that I would ever have thought of it, for him to be a double agent. But it’s going to make you curious, it’s going to make you want to read the books … they’ll probably do a movie based on it, so I can’t fault it. It’s a good idea.”
“I think it’s crazy,” he added with a laugh, “but it’s a good idea.”
So for Lee, the potential of what this can do outweighs how “true” this is to the character, which is part of the outrage for the fans. It’s still very unclear where this twist will lead to in the comics.
