Many have wondered how Splatoon could survive with only a few maps, weapons, modes, etc. Well the answer was always there, Nintendo was going to release new modes, and maps, and other excellent things via free DLC. Today, squeezed into a micro Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed the first batch of DLC that you’ll actually be able to play tonight!
First up, as a bunch of people have reached Lvl. 10 in Splatoon, Ranked Battle will be unlocked via the DLC download. This will allow you to be matched with players of your skill level, or quite simply you Inkling level. Also, Splat Zones will be unlocked as well, where you have to try and keep a designated area for a certain amount of time.
But don’t think that’s all. A new map called Port Mackerel is being released as well. As the name would suggest, it’s a port map that’ll offer new challenges for players to overcome and capitalize on.
Finally, a new, yet totally classic, weapon is being added in the DLC bundle tonight. The N-Zap 85…or the Nintendo Zapper for those who remember it oh so well, is going to available for your Inkling to use. This is a short range, but incredibly rapid fire weapon, and it also works with the Echo-locator special weapon.
You can get all of this via the free Splatoon DLC when it releases at 7 pm Pacific Time tonight.
