Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse is the long awaited sequel for the 2018 hit, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In my own theory, I believe the sucesss of the first film is the reason why Spider-man: No way Home got greenlit.
If the Covid 19 Pandemic hadn’t occurred, we could have watched this movie in April 2022.
Jessica Drew, The Spider-Woman, has her race switched, which could trigger another Culture War with the comics community. Be prepared for a torrent of criticism from the comicgate community on Twitter and YouTube. Also they use the story arc where Jessica Drew is pregnant. That comic storyline is hated by many fans and they are using it on this movie. The casual fanbase is now getting accustomed to the concept of the multiverse.
When Miles Morales originally emerged in Ultimate comics decades ago, some thought he wouldn’t work well in a movie. Turning Miles into Peter’s apprentice instead of random replacement made the movie work.In the First film we get to see Miles work with the Spider People from different dimensions like Spider-man Noir, Spider Hog, Penny Parker, Ghost-Spider(Gwen Stacy) and Peter Parker.
Ignoring the noise from whiny fans this movie looks like a pleasure to watch just like the first one. Sony and Marvel are so confident with the success of this movie that 3rd sequel in in development.
Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse Official Trailer
Years After the events of the first film, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is now a more experienced Super-hero. His father is not approving of his career as vigilante. He is also going through some troubles with his family relations. Miles wanted an escape and Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) just came in time from a Portal and let him go to another dimension and reunite with Peter B Parker (Jake Johnson). Peter’s family life had improved as he reunited with Mary Jane and they now have a daughter named Mayday.
Miles will meet more Spider-Men like Spider-man 2099, Jessica Drew AKA the Spider-woman (Oscar Isaac),Spider-Punk (Spider-Punk) and Supaidaman, The Spider-man from Japan.
June 2, 2023 is the release date of Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse.
