Space Jam 2 Set For July 16, 2021
It’s been a while since a group of cartoon animals had to play a basketball game to dodge being sold into slavery by a gang of multicolored aliens, but history is about to repeat itself. Space Jam 2 has officially been announced — the sequel a certain crowd of Millennials has been demanding, and an equally vocal crowd of everyone else has been booing the idea of.
Whether or not you think a Space Jam 2 is a good idea, WB has been trying to get it off the ground ever since the first one came out. And it wasn’t always basketball that the Tune Squad was going to reunite for. Names like Jackie Chan and Tony Hawk were floated around (to give you an idea of how long it’s been).
More recently the focus has shifted back to a b-ball rematch, with LeBron James as the guy Bugs shoves down a hole into Toon World. We’re told this casting idea has stuck, and that WB now feels confident enough that they’ve placed Space Jam 2 on their release schedule.
Ryan Coogler is producing the movie and Terence Nance is directing. Currently, that’s all we know aside from the fact that it involves a popular sport and classic cartoon characters. WB took the occasion of this announcement to reshuffle their schedule….Godzilla Vs. Kong has been moved up to March 13, 2020, the ninth Fast and Furious film will premiere that May, and the third Annabelle movie (please not another prequel) comes out that June.
