Sharon Carter vs. Black Widow In Civil War?
It’s easy to think that Captain America: Civil War would simply be a battle between the Avengers, as that’s what happened in the comic book series of a similar name. However, many aspects of the Captain America movies are going to be prominent in the film as the trailer showed. First off, Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, will be a huge factor in the book. Also though, Sharon Carter (who technically hasn’t been revealed as Sharon Carter in full) will return as well. Not so surprisingly, she’ll be on Team Captain America, as actress Emily VanCamp told Entertainment Tonight.
“She’s definitely Team Captain America,” VanCamp said when she was asked about her role in Marvel’s Civil War. “That’s who she is within the universe, I mean, she’s always had his back.”
Also, unlike what we of the character saw in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sharon will not be on sidelines as a “support” character. She’ll be in the thick of the action. This apparently includes a fight scene with Black Widow! VanCamp stated, “I got to do a small fight sequence with Scarlett [Johansson] which was fun. We’re all just kind of kicking ass in those movies.”
Comic fans will note that Sharon does become involved with Steve Rogers, and it appears that it could be that way again via Civil War. VanCamp noted that the way Civil War ends in the comics (with Sharon killing Steve via mind control) may not be what happens in the film.
Captain America: Civil War comes out May 6th, 2016.
