The Suicide Squad is on everyone’s lips due to the upcoming film based on the hit comic. At SDCC, the writers and artists for the book got to talk to fans about the upcoming Rebirth book, as well as the movie.
They noted how writing Suicide Squad is very different than other comic books:
“You can’t really have them shooting someone in the head or throwing them down the stairs,” but in the Suicide Squad line “anything can happen.”
Jim Lee said that “we probably know more people in real life that are like the Suicide Squad than the Justice League.”
To start the series, the book will have two stories, one half will feature the team in action, while the other is a backup detaling the members of the Squad. For example, what drives Rick Flagg is: “he’s a former Navy Seal, he had lost some people on a mission — as horrible as the Suicide Squad are, he’s going to protect them, he’s going to bring them home.”
