After much speculation, Marvel officially revealed at San Diego Comic Con that Brie Larson would be playing Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She’ll debut in Avengers: Infinity War, then move on to her own solo film in 2019.
Larson was rumored to be up for the role, but no confirmation had been given. Captain Marvel will be, at least at present, the first solo female-led Marvel movie, beating out several other Marvel heroines including Black Widow and Wasp.
