Lucasfilm and Disney surprised everyone with a full, new trailer today. You can check out the latest, full trailer for the film in the player below, which has quite a bit of revealing footage, including the legendary Darth Vader.
This trailer provides more insight for the backstory of Jyn Erso, who appears to be imprisoned by the Imperial army at one point before the Rebel Alliance busts her out. It also appears that Mads Mikkelsen’s character is the father of Jyn Erso. Not only that, there’s a sense that he’s taken by the Empire in order to help them build the Death Star.
Some of the aspects here make this look quite different as a Star Wars movie. However, that could be a good thing. The Star Wars Anthology type movies could be good opportunities to make different types of Star Wars stories and present them in different ways than what audiences might typically be used to for a Star Wars film. Perhaps they can use different ideas and conventions than what would typically be seen in a Star Wars movie.
Either way, the hype for the return to Star Wars mania this year is definitely building up. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story arrives in theaters on December 16. Director Gareth Edwards also revealed a new poster image, which you can also check out below (Courtesy of Disney).
