Rockstar Not Planning Any Story DLC For GTA V
While Rockstar have done an excellent job of keeping Grand Theft Auto V fresh and updated with a variety of new content since it was released, it has failed to deliver on a request from many fans who want story-based DLC. The studio even teased news about story mode content in April, leading many fans to believe that new missions were on the way. However, that DLC never arrived and it now appears that the game might never see any additional content focused on the story.
Speaking to IGN, Rockstar has confirmed that its sole focus is on GTA Online and on creating new content for the multiplayer portion of the title. “Right now our focus is on GTA Online which has exceeded our expectations,” Sarwar said. “We currently have all key members of the team that launched Grand Theft Auto 5 focused on supporting GTA Online in every capacity. The community we’ve been able to foster is massive, growing each day and we have so many ideas that have yet to make it into the game.”
It should come as little surprise that the developer is concentrating on GTA Online considering that publisher Take-Two have consistently stated how profitable the multiplayer mode is for them. More than two thirds of everyone who has bought the game has tried out the online mode and the number of online players has increased since 2014.
It does spell disappointment for those who prefer to play the singleplayer story missions though. Many fans had enjoyed previous DLC packs that released for Grand Theft Auto IV, but it now looks as though the latest GTA won’t receive anything like The Lost and the Damned or The Ballad of Gay Tony.
