Rayman and Steep Set for Nintendo Switch
Ubisoft officially announced this week several new games that are in the works for Nintendo’s new console, the Nintendo Switch. These include Steep, Just Dance 2017 and Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition. All three games will be part of Nintendo Switch’s new lineup.
Speaking on the announcement, Ubisoft managing director Xavier Poix stated: “Ubisoft will initially be bringing Just Dance 2017, Rayman Legends Definitive Edition and Steep to the Nintendo Switch. We’re proud to be working closely with Nintendo on this new console, making sure players can enjoy great games on a device that shares the same philosophy these games: great accessibility and the ability to bring people together. These three games are just the beginning. We will share more about other exciting projects for the Nintendo Switch at a later date.”
Rayman Legends Definitive Edition is described as the “ultimate version” of the hit Rayman Legends game, created by Michel Ancel. The new version for the Switch includes all of the game’s traditional features, along with some new surprises. This will be a nice reunion for Nintendo and Rayman. Rayman Advance was previously available for Game Boy Advance. Rayman 2: The Great Escape was on the Nintendo 64. And Rayman Raving Rabbids was a launch title for the Wii console. Here’s an official synopsis for Rayman Legends:
Rayman, Globox and the Teensies are off wandering through an enchanted forest when they discover a mysterious tent filled with a series of captivating paintings. As they look more closely, they notice each painting seems to tell the story of a different mythical world. While focusing on a painting that shows a medieval land, they are suddenly sucked into the painting, entering the world, and the adventure begins. The gang must run, jump and fight their way through each world to save the day and discover the secrets of every legendary painting.
For Steep, players will experience extreme skiing, snowboarding, and wingsuit and paragliding through massive open world playgrounds. The game is developed by Ubisoft Annecy and will feature seamless multiplayer gameplay. The game will feature various challenges for players to tackle together or compete against each other to get the top spot on the leaderboards. Additionally, Ubisoft has confirmed that there will be a free update featuring the slopes of Alaska later this year.
