The next game in Paradox Interactive‘s “Surviving” series is coming late next year, the developer announced today. Surviving The Aftermath will be the latest installment of their survival series, which concerns keeping a colony on Mars running and free of any and all disasters.
The flagship title in the Surviving series, Surviving Mars, had its userbase grow by 19 percent this year, mostly due to the new expansion Green Planet.
“With the staggering growth of Surviving Mars this year we knew we had something special and we wanted to find new ways to utilize survival management gameplay,” saysNikhat Ali, Lead Producer on Surviving the Aftermath and Surviving Mars at Paradox Interactive. “Surviving the Aftermath gives us the opportunity to experiment with these mechanics in new and interesting ways that we think our players will love.”
If you’re thinking about getting into the series, Paradox is lowering the barrier of entry temporarily. The original Surviving Mars game and its DLC are heading to the Epic Games Store on October 10, and for their first week of availability, the base game and the Space Race DLC free — no kidding. Ordinarily it costs $29.99 to get Surviving Mars.
More details on Surviving The Aftermath will be revealed on Saturday, October 19 during PDXCON 2019 in Berlin. You may not have to wait until late 2020 though if you’re willing to try the Early Access version, which is coming to Epic and Xbox Game Preview soon.
