Oninaki Demo Now Available On Switch, PS4 And Steam
Square Enix’s Oninaki doesn’t come out for another month, but you can get a taste of it today thanks to the new demo Square has published on all platforms that will receive the game.
The game’s protagonist, Kagachi, is a Watcher — someone assigned to patrol the hidden netherworld and return lost souls to where they belong (reincarnation is a proven fact in this world). On his appointed journey, he’ll get to know other Watchers like respected leader Kushi, kind-hearted Mayura, and the most likely villainous Night Devil.
The Oninaki demo has two activities to partake in: the “Story Mode” that takes you through the first few areas of the game, and a “Battle Mode” that will let you practice with an upgraded Kagashi, fully loaded with four Daemons.
The best thing about the Oninaki demo is that you really are playing the early stages of the game, with no cuts or alterations….and your save file will be compatible with the finished product, so you can jump in where you left off. However, no matter how many monsters you hack down, there is a limit to the level Kagashi can reach. If you thought you’d be able to grind until you can smoke the game come August, Square saw through your scheme in advance.
The full version of Oninaki will be out for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam August 22. If you preorder the game now in any of these markets, you’ll get a 10% discount off the price.
