Nintendo NX Gets Support From Warner Bros. Interactive

Nintendo’s next upcoming hardware concept, codenamed the Nintendo NX, just received the endorsement and pledged support from a major video game publisher in the form Warner Bros. Interactive, the publisher of such games as the Batman Arkham franchise, LEGO video games, Mortal Kombat and more. VentureBeat spoke to WB Interactive President David Haddad, who discussed new consoles coming from Microsoft in the Scorpio and Nintendo’s NX.

Speaking on the subject, Haddad stated: “We have great relationships with all the console platforms. We believe we play a role in each of them. What I saw with the announcements that were made at [E3 2016]–I’m fairly bullish about the console cycle, about gamers spending time on them and finding great content, about publishers being able to find returns on increasing investments in that space. We’re constantly deciding how to navigate that, but supporting them is not a question for us.”

Warner Bros. Interactive has been a decent third party supporter for the Nintendo Wii U. Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition was one of the Wii U’s launch titles. Injustice: Gods Among Us was also released for the Wii U, but Mortal Kombat X. Batman: Arkham Knight was also not released for the Wii U. LEGO Dimensions and LEGO Batman games were also released on the Wii U console. Scribblenauts Unmasked was also on the Wii U, but Shadow of Mordor wasn’t either. Still, Warner Bros. Interactive had regular and consistent support of games on Wii U, unlike a lot of other third-party publishers and developers.

The Nintendo NX, which has still not given an official launch name, is scheduled for a global launch of March 2017.
