Today during its E3 Direct presentation Nintendo announced Mario Kart 8 for Wii U. Mario Kart 8 will launch in spring 2014 and contains many new features. Perhaps the most noticeable new feature is the anti-gravity courses, certain areas of some tracks in the game will feature anti-gravity where players will be racing vertically as well as along walls and buildings.
Mario Kart 8 also features the usual group of playable characters with the likes of Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach shown in the trailer. Along with the returning characters there is many returning Karts, shown in the trailer were a variety of different Karts and Bikes, which both now feature hover blades to allow for anti-gravity racing. Also returning will be the much lauded online multiplayer modes, which were the highlight of Mario Kart 7 on 3DS.
Mario Kart 8 will be shown in more detail throughout this week.

I thought this looked great graphically, but doesn’t seem to bring a whole lot new to the series. It’s going to be insanely fun, no question there, but it kind of echoed my sentiment of the whole direct.
It was just overall a bunch of stuff we knew was coming, a fantastic trailer for X and Smash Brothers, and a really disappointing announcement from Retro.
to be honest, if they included a level creator for the gamepad, that would be groundbreaking for the series.
I agree with that statement Bleach.
