In “Nightborn” (2026), Saga (played by Seidi Haarla) is a young Finnish woman returning to her isolated childhood home deep within the forest, along with her British husband Jon (played by Rupert Grint). Their dream is simple: begin a perfect family in a place tied to Saga’s roots. But once their baby is born, that dream fractures almost immediately. Saga senses something profoundly wrong with her newborn—something no one else seems willing to acknowledge. Although her husband, family, and community reassure her repeatedly, she insists, “There’s something wrong with it…”

As the days pass, and the couple tries to build a happy home, the infant’s behavior grows increasingly disturbing. Saga becomes convinced that her child is not entirely human. The house, once a sanctuary, begins to feel like a living organism closing in around her. Jon tries desperately to maintain stability. But the gulf between their perceptions of their child strains their marriage to the breaking point.

Saga’s fear bleeds into the landscape, suggesting that the danger is not confined to the child but woven into the environment itself. As she confronts the terrifying possibility that her newborn carries something ancient and malevolent. Saga must decide: Is it just the maternal anxiety of a new mother? Or a warning she must heed before it’s too late.

Seidi Helena Alexandra Haarla

A Finnish actress known for her emotionally raw, understated performances and her rapid rise in international cinema. She comes from a multi-generational artistic family:

• father, Teuri Haarla, is an environmental artist;
• sister Ruusu Haarla is a playwright and director;
• grandparents were actor Saulo Haarla and soprano/actress Helena Salonius; and
• great-grandparents include stage actress Tyyne Haarla and writer Lauri Haarla.

Haarla first appeared in Finnish television as a child actor, then returned to the screen decades later after building a strong foundation in theater. She co-created autobiographical plays with her sister, including “The Trauma Body” (2014) and “New Childhood” (2020).

Seidi Haarla has appeared in a growing number of Finnish and international productions. Her breakthrough role was in the Cannes-lauded film “Compartment No. 6” (2021). She played the lead role of Laura and received several awards for her performance.

“Nightborn” (2026) marks her entry into elevated folk-horror cinema.

Rupert Grint

An English actor best known for portraying Ron Weasley in the “Harry Potter” film franchise (2001–2011). His work in the series earned him global recognition and multiple ensemble awards. After Harry Potter, Grint transitioned into independent cinema and television, taking on darker and more mature roles. He starred in the psychological thriller series “Servant” (2019–2023) and appeared in “Knock at the Cabin” (2023), an M. Night Shyamalan thriller.
