New Joker Film Rumored

Well…this just got interesting. If you can say one thing about Warner Bros. and their methodology about their comic book universe…it…would be…scattered. You see, when the DCEU was announced, it had a number of set films. But then, as time and films went on, a bunch of new projects were revealed, old ones were seemingly scrapped, and many questions arose about what was real and what wasn’t. And now, a new project seems to be taking place outside of the DCEU…and focusing on the Joker.

Yeah, it’s weird for sure, but it gets weirder! You see, Deadline is reporting that some top-level talent is working on this film, including Martin Scorsese! Yeah, that Scorsese. But wait, that’s not all, this film will not take place in the DCEU according to reports, but instead will be under a “new banner” with the intention of telling special stories about the characters of the DC Comics universe, and to that end, Jared Leto will not be Joker in this film, but he still can come back in the DCEU.

As for the intent of the film, this will tell an “official” origin to Joker, something that comics has often tried to steer away from with a few noticeable exceptions like The Killing Joke. The project isn’t officially confirmed by DC or Warner Bros, but it’s certainly interesting to think about.
