Milestone Comic Heroes Return to DC Universe Via Earth-M
Milestone characters have long been a part of the DC Comics universe. Some, like Static Shock, have incredible popularity. But recently, they’re appearances have been limited. At SDCC today, DC Comics announced that three of it’s biggest heroes, Static Shock, Hardware, and Icon will return to DC Comics via a “return home” to the “Dakota Universe” via Earth-M. Yes, they’ll be in the Multiverse and not a part of Earth Zero, where the majority of DC Comics stories take place.
“I felt that the most successful ‘Static’ series were in their own world,” Reginald Hudlin told CBR News. “I thought in the case of Milestone, they were stronger on their own. That said, there will be some surprising integrations that you’ll see later.” Hudlin said that, like the original Milestone, the new Milestone comics will likely feature both DC and Milestone logos.
To be clear though, these three are just the beginning, new stories and heroes are set to return. But for Milestone and it’s people, the reasoning behind it all was simple, they wanted to keep the diversity in comics.
“We have to keep this company alive,” Milestone co-founder Derek T. Dingle told the gathered press as to the reasons for bringing back the company. “We have to maintain diversity in this industry.”
