Mike Colter Doesn’t See Luke Cage In Avengers

Despite being set in the same universe technically, the Marvel films and the Marvel/Netflix Collaborations have a clear divide between them. While the shows reference the movies, very often in fact, the movies (so far), haven’t referenced the shows at all. Yes, there have been rumors that the Defenders would be in the upcoming Infinity War, but then rumors came that it won’t happen.

So, will the members of the Defenders ever show up on the big screen? Well, Luke Cage himself doesn’t think so, and he has some good reasons as to why. He explained to Breakfast Club Power 105.1 that it’s all about the characters themselves, and timing:

“What we do is really unique…We’re adult kind of oriented. We’re not PG-13,” Colter explained. “We’re not really for the mass audiences, crowd pleasing, family oriented. We have sex scenes. We have, you know, adult situations, and while I think it’d be nice to be in the films, I don’t know if we want to dilute what we’re doing that makes us very unique.”

He went on:

“If they can make it work I’m sure it’d be nice, but it’s really scheduling. They schedule movies years in advance, we’re shooting TV series year round. It’s very tough to just kind of make things just work the way you want to because it’s just so much going on.”

So while this doesn’t deny the possibility, it basically proves that he currently isn’t attached to any Marvel film. In fact, Colter and the other Netflix stars are about to start production on The Defenders soon, which no doubt will add to their already busy schedules.

We’ll just have to see if anything breaks through.
