Matt Reeves Inspired By Dark Knight Trilogy
While it’s unclear when the first solo Batman film in the DCEU will arrive, fans are eagerly waiting for it. Especially when it was announced that Matt Reeves is directing it. He’s known best for his recent trilogy of films based on the classic Planet of the Apes saga. The upcoming end of that trilogy is already being called a masterpiece, and so fans can’t wait to see what Reeves does with Batman.
Naturally, many are using his press tour of War For The Planet Of The Apes to ask him about The Batman film. Yahoo Movies asked him about the film, and he noted that for him, what really inspired his upcoming take on the character was the Christopher Nolan films of Batman:
“What I love that [Nolan] did was that he took the genre seriously. What studios are willing to make at the moment is a very, very narrow band of films. What I discovered is that this genre has the potential to be about something more. You can use the metaphors of the genre to talk about [a lot].”
Indeed, many consider the Dark Knight Trilogy to be the greatest Batman films ever made in many ways. Reeves has said he’s going to try and make a dark/noir style story, one that has deep character moments, it’s going to be good whenever it arrives.
