“MARY” ~ To Be Released Only on Netflix December 2024

“In the end, love will save the world”. ~ Mary

STORYLINE: Most people know the story about Mary, the mother of Jesus. If not read it in Luke 1:26-38.

The Bible does not reveal a lot about this innocent young girl, so the producers and directors liberally used their artistic license to fill in the missing pieces and create a story.

Sir Anthony Hopkins, as always, shines in his performance. He is particularly good when it comes to playing historical figures. In this film, he plays King Herod, the mean king who killed a lot of babies, i.e. “The Slaughter of the Innocents” which is an incident many people say can’t possibly be true or an actual historical event, because it’s only mentioned in the Bible. At any rate, King Herod was told of a prophecy and since he fancied himself “The King of the Jews”, he wanted to thwart the prophecy that a Messiah would be born who was destined to be the real king of everybody!

Noa Cohen, is an Israeli actress and a model, chosen to play the role of Mary. She started her acting career in 2018 and in 2022, made her film debut in the spy thriller “Silent Game“. That particular film was not highly rated. But no doubt if her performance as the Virgin Mary is stellar, people will want to go back and revisit her other roles. Many believe that she is a rising star. (Official Instagram)

There is backlash about casting an Israeli actress to play Mary. DUMB STUFF!! (My opinion.) If you’re going to argue about a Jewish girl playing the role of a Jewish girl, why not argue about the entire story being a figment of someone’s imagination?

• FILMING LOCATIONS: Mainly filmed in Morocco and key locations included: Ouarzazate (aka “Gateway to the Sahara”), Taourirt Kasbah (a historic fortress), and Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
