Marriage Toxin Anime Adaption Announced For 2026

I started reading Marriage Toxin last year and it surprised me with how emotional it can be behind all the fighting. Hikaru’s character development feels real because his problem isn’t just about romance, but about family pressure and expectations. BONES being in charge gives me a lot of confidence. They know how to balance strong action with personality, like they did in My Hero Academia. I hope they capture Mei’s charm too, because that character brings so much humor and unpredictability to the story.

I have mixed feelings about this. I like the concept of an assassin struggling to find love, but it depends on how the anime handles the balance between comedy and drama. BONES is a great studio, but they also have many projects at once. My main worry is pacing. Marriage Toxin has a lot of setup, and I do not want them to rush the emotional parts just to reach the cool fights.

The manga has a strong mix of action and relationships that makes it stand out among other Shonen Jump+ titles. Mei Konosaki is honestly one of my favorite side characters ever. They bring energy every time they appear. I think the anime will do very well if it keeps the focus on the chemistry between Mei and Hikaru.

The director choice makes me excited. Motonobu Hori handled Carole & Tuesday so well, giving every episode a nice emotional rhythm. If he applies that same care to Marriage Toxin, it could become one of the best new anime of 2026. I am also glad Taisei Iwasaki is doing the music — his soundtracks always have a modern but touching feel.
