Shueisha has just announced that Marriage Toxin, the action manga series by creator Joumyaku and artist Mizuki Yoda, has officially been greenlit for a TV anime adaptation in 2026. The manga has been running in Shonen Jump+ since 2022.
Hikaru Gero belongs to the “Poison Master” Gero family, which means he’s a top-class assassin. And the big problem with that is, his job has kept him so busy from the moment he grew of age that he’s never entered the dating world. But hey, maybe he can find another assassin to pose as his wife — wait, wrong series.
The Gero family must produce an heir, and Hikaru’s relatives are tired of waiting. They’re about to order his lesbian sister to produce the heir instead, which would fracture her relationship with her true love. Nearly out of time, Hikau needs to get over his lack of experience and find a bride quickly. But who can teach him how?
There is one person who believes they can help with Hikaru’s dilemma: Mei Konosaki. A chance encounter with the man leads Mei to believe they can get him the love life he lacks. Mei is a self-proclaimed “marriage swindler” who claims they can seduce anyone, male or female, in just thirty seconds. Mei and Hikaru are about to team up for his toughest mission ever!
Animation production for Marriage Toxin will be handled by BONES Film (My Hero Academia, Gachiakuta) Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday) has been called to direct the episodes. Kohei Tokuoka (The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity) has been appointed Chief Animation Director and Character Designer. Taisei Iwasaki (Belle) and Yuma Yamaguchi (Metallic Rouge) are working on the music.
Watch for Marriage Toxin (the show) sometime next year — in the meantime, you can read Marriage Toxin (the manga) in English on Shueisha’s Manga Plus app.
