Death Stranding is the highly anticipated first title from Hideo Kojima and his studio. It’s set to star Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, aside from that, and the stylized look we know to expect from Kojima games, we don’t know much else about it. And apparently, some of the stars dont’ know what the game is about either.
Mikkelsen spoke at Saudi Comic-Con (as reported by IGN), and relayed how Kojima tried to explain the Death Stranding plot to him:
“He was trying to tell me the full plot of the game, and it’s so elaborate that, I mean, I got lost but I really wanted to learn more. It’s a big honour to be there.”
Again, this is Kojima we’re talking about, so that’s not too big of a surprise. What was a surprise though was that Mikkelsen was pushed into doing this game by his son:
“Kojima approached me for this video game and I didn’t know what it was,” says Mikkelsen. “And then [Director] Nicolas [Winding Refn] told me who he was, and then I [asked] my son ‘do you know him?’ And then my son said ‘Daddy, you are crazy, you have to do this!’
“And then I met [Kojima] and he’s just a wonderful, charismatic person; a genius in his field.”
