Kojima Talks Death Stranding and Metal Gear Survive
At the Tokyo Game Show, video game legend Hideo Kojima took to the stage to talk about many things. One of the first though was Metal Gear Survive. He was asked whether he had come up with that idea while he was at Konami, to which he promptly responded:
“That’s nothing to do with me! The Metal Gear games are about political fiction and espionage,” he continued. “Where do zombies fit in with that?”
This seems to be the common thread when it comes to fans who’s seen Metal Gear Survive and its gameplay. It’s not that the game is bad per se, but what does any of it have to do with Metal Gear?
Next, Kojima talked about the first game from his new studio, Death Stranding, which will star Walking Dead star Norman Reedus. Kojima stated that Death Stranding will release before 2019.
“It will be out before the Olympics,” said Kojima, referring to the Tokyo 2020 Games. He then went on, “To go a little further, there is a movie called Akira, and it will be out before the year in which Akira is set.”
For those who don’t know, Akira is coming out in 2019 (currently), so that signals 2018 as the release for the game.
Finally, Kojima revealed there will be a female protagonist for the title, but that casting is still underway. And that though the game will be online multiplayer for most of it, it can be played solo. He emphasized that the online will be done in a way never seen before.
