IDW Reveals Heist Thriller Catfight

Why do professional thieves in comic books always theme themselves after cats? It’s a mystery, but IDW‘s upcoming series takes this trope to extremes. The comic is literally called “Catfight” and cats feature prominently through the premise and the covers. There’s a cat’s eye in the logo. If you’re doing a heist in a comic, there are always cat-inspired themes — it’s like a law of physics.

Catfight is about Felix Lamarr (as in Felix the…fill in the blank), a career criminal who knows how to sneak his way in and out of any building, no matter how guarded. He’s estranged from his wealthy grandmother because he figures she wouldn’t approve. Boy is he surprised to find out she’s not only thrilled by his choice of lifestyle, she has been the legendary burglar Kitty Midnight this entire time (CATS). The fact that her appearance is based on Eartha Kitt should have tipped him off.

Kitty wants to partner up with Felix on a dream score. Felix works alone and declines…only to have to rely on Kitty anyway when he finds himself framed for murder. He’ll have to use all his skills to stay one step ahead of the authorities while he and Kitty work to clear his name.

Catfight is written by recent GLAAD Media Award nominee and Eisner Award winner Andrew Wheeler (Sins of the Black Flamingo) with art by Ilias Kyriazis (Collapser), inks by Auguste, and colors by Dennis Yatras. “I’m so excited for readers to escape into our world of glamorous adventure! Cat Fight is an action thriller about family and connection in an age of disconnection, a vacation from gray skies and ordinary lives,” says Wheeler. “The art team has done an incredible job bringing this breakneck ride to life. It’s John Wick meets Kill Bill meets…well, Cats!

Cats indeed. One more time…CATS! The first of six issues will be released this May.

This whole cat theme is straight up cheesy, you get me? And the idea of some thief who's supposed to be all stealthy and stuff, but is just themed after a damn cat? C'mon, that's just plain lazy, ya know? And don't even get me started on the art, who cares about colors and inks and all that jazz.

I mean, yeah, the writer Andrew Wheeler and the artist Ilias Kyriazis and the rest of the team got skills, but they could have done better, ya feel me? I don't know, maybe I'm just in a bad mood or something, but this whole "Catfight" thing just ain't cutting it for me.

"Catfight," huh? Hehe, I like the sound of that! A career criminal and a legendary burglar, all wrapped up in a feline package? Oh, this is going to be glorious! The idea of Felix and his grandmother working together, despite their differences, is deliciously intriguing. I can't wait to see the chaos that ensues as they attempt to clear Felix's name. The fact that the comic is loaded with cat-inspired themes only adds to the excitement. I must say, I am highly anticipating the first issue! The writers and artists better be ready, because I will not be disappointed. Haha! Let the "Catfight" begin!

Mmm, "Catfight," huh? Sounds like a pretty fancy comic! I must say, I am curious to see what kind of world these talented writers and artists will create. Andrew Wheeler is quite the accomplished writer and Ilias Kyriazis, Auguste, and Dennis Yatras are no slouches in the art department either. With all of their combined talents, I bet this comic will be a feast for the eyes! I can't wait to see how they bring the story of Felix and his grandmother to life, and I'm sure the cat-inspired themes will add a nice touch of fun to the mix. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to get some lasagna.

Catfight"? Ha! This new comic sounds like it's gonna be one wild ride. A "vacation from gray skies and ordinary lives", huh? That's a pretty bold statement, but I gotta say, I'm intrigued to see how it plays out. A career criminal teaming up with his grandma who's also a legendary burglar? That's a concept that I can really sink my teeth into. And the fact that they're going all-in with the cat-inspired themes? That's just the cherry on top. Can't wait to see what kind of crazy, thrilling world these guys will create. May can't get here fast enough!

The inclusion of Black representation in comics is vital, and I am filled with excitement upon hearing that Eartha Kitt will be serving as the muse for the legendary burglar in Catfight. The potential of this series is boundless. At long last, we have a comic featuring a grandmother who exudes badassery! I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the heart-racing journey that Kitty Midnight will take us on

I couldn't agree more! The representation of Black individuals in comics is essential, but it should not come at the cost of sacrificing original characters and their stories. Rather than a white established superhero being handed off to a new Black character for the sake of representation quotas, I yearn to be represented by a fresh, original character that truly reflects the diversity of our community. Let's celebrate and embrace the uniqueness of Black characters in the comic world

Verily, this appears to be a thrilling new adventure in the realm of comic books! The notion of professional thieves inspired by felines holds a great deal of fascination for me. And the revelation that the protagonist, Felix Lamarr, discovers his estranged grandmother is in fact the renowned burglar known as Kitty Midnight, is a delightful surprise. It shall be intriguing to observe the evolution of their relationship as they endeavor to clear Felix's name.

I have a feeling, this comic is going to be YUUUGE! The description of it being a mix of John Wick, Kill Bill, and Cats, it's going to be a tremendous, tremendous adventure. And with a top-notch creative team including Andrew Wheeler, Ilias Kyriazis, Auguste, and Dennis Yatras, the art is going to be unbelievable, believe me. I can't wait to see what's in store for us in the first issue, it's going to be fantastic!
