Hideo Kojima Weighs In On Nintendo Switch
We are officially less than 4 weeks away from the arrival of the Nintendo Switch, and with it, the potential birth of another great console. As time winds down to its arrival, more and more developers are being asked what they think about it. Including one Hideo Kojima.
In fact, during an interview with IGN, Kojima noted that he sees the Switch as an extension of a mechanic that the previous generation of consoles had:
“You might be familiar with the fact that for a previous game that I did, we had a specification that we called ‘Transfarring’ where you could take the saved data from the PS Vita and move it over to the PS3 and back and forth like that,” Kojima said “I believe [Switch] is an extension of that idea. The fact you can play something at home and take it outside, this is the gamer’s dream. The Switch is an evolution of that.”
He loves the idea of the “start at home, then take it on the go” approach, and thinks that this is the true dream of gamers. Furthermore, he believes that all game consoles will take this approach eventually, this making the Switch kind of revolutionary.
Now, currently, Kojima and his studio don’t have anything planned for the Nintendo Switch. However, if he feels the console could bring something to his titles, it’d be hard to keep him off of it.
