GTA V PC Patch Fixes Bugs…But Prevents Mods From Working?
Yesterday, Rockstar released GTA V PC patch 350.1. With it came a bunch of bug fixes, but it came with an unexpected side effect. One in particular caught many gamers off guard once it was installed. The patch apparently prevents certain mods from working.
This comes straight from the GTA modding community, who have noted that mods do not work after the patch is downloaded. Now if you’re thinking, “how can one patch affect every mod,” you’re right. It can’t. However, it can affect a piece of programming that is required to run mods on GTA V for PC. More specifically, it renders the Script Hook V tool useless. Without that? No mods.
Rockstar has not commented on this issue, so it’s honestly hard to tell if this was an intentional issue or an unintentional one. Modding is a big part of the PC community, especially for open world games like Grand Theft Auto, Elder Scrolls, etc. So it would be kind of odd if Rockstar decided to target the community. However, weirder things have happened in the gaming industry.
On the plus side, the patch honestly did fix bugs that have been reported in game, such as improving the stability of the game, decreasing chances of freezes or crashes, along with reducing the amount of time it takes to download certain patches.
