Gears Of War 4 Will Have Microtransactions
More and more information is being given about Gears of War 4. Today’s new patch of info includes the reveal of microtransactions that’ll allow players to customize the looks of their characters via collecting cards in the game. In an interview with Gamespot, director Rod Ferguson talked about these transactions:
“I feel like that paradigm of cards is really clear to understand for collectibles, like the ability to collect things. We had weapon skins and character skins, so that idea of collecting cards is just easily understood,” Fergusson said.
He goes on to note that though you can buy the cards, which he likens to booster packs of popular card games, you can earn the cards via playing the game itself:
“We’re going to be balanced where you’re going to be constantly getting crates, or enough credits to get crates through the game, so it really is just about your choice.”
It is made clear that these cosmetic changes will not affect the gameplay of Gears of War 4, simply make it a bit more personal for the gamers. Though at present, it’s unclear what kind of “cosmetic changes” will be made via the booster backs. Likely, it’ll be focused on colors of armor, and details on the character models.
