Games With Gold for March revealed
Microsoft has revealed the games that will be made available to Xbox Live Gold members to download for free in March. The Games With Gold program for the Xbox One will make Rayman Legends available for the entire month. The platformer is the direct sequel to the highly rated Rayman Origins, which took the Rayman series back to its original roots with 2D sidescrolling action.
While it was originally announced as Wii U exclusive, the game eventually released on almost every platform available in 2013 and also made its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014. It received widespread critical acclaim for its distinctive visuals, excellent platforming gameplay and a superb soundtrack. The usual price for Rayman Legends on Xbox Live is $39.99, making it a great deal.
On the Xbox 360, the two games for Xbox Live Gold members are Tomb Raider in the first half of the month and BioShock Infinite for the second half. Tomb Raider (usually priced at $19.99) was a reboot of the series, providing an origin story for Lara Croft and modernizing the franchise. It originally released in 2013 and a remastered version was released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 the following year. On the other hand, BioShock Infinite is the final entry in the hit BioShock series. It also launched in 2013 and saw the franchise move from an underwater setting to a vast and open sky-based environment.
As well as detailing the games that would be made available for free in March, Microsoft also announced that since the launch of Games With Gold in 2013, more than 100 million titles have been downloaded collectively for free by the Xbox Live community. To celebrate the fact, the company will be doubling the number of titles available in April, meaning that Xbox One users will be able to download two free games and Xbox 360 users will get the chance to get their hands on four.
