Kyoryuger 1:
- For being the third dinosaur Sentai, the name 'Kyoryuger' is rather uncreative. They just took the 'Kyoryu' and 'Zyu' in Zyuranger and reversed the places.
- I wish they didn't revert back to the 'show name-color' naming style for the heroes. Red Tyra, Black Paras, Blue Stega, Green Zactor and Pink Cera would have worked fine.
- I like Torin's laugh at Daigo's enthusiasm. He's not as stupid looking as Cruger or the Kensei, but I still wish he had a human form like Changeman's Ibuki.
Bu the way, I wonder if Sanjo or anyone else at Toei watched Ancient Aliens' dinosaur episode for inspiration.
- The announcer is obnoxious. Can him.
- Candelira somehow makes me think of Harley Quinn. But her and Luckyuro look rather silly. The others aren't bad, but I'd still rather have a real villain cast again like the 80s-mid 90s. Also, this is an odd way of introducing the villains by having themselves reintroduce each other.
I still say if Toei was clever they would do a Deboss-Fog-Bandora Gang team-up for a SHT movie. Deboss and Fog are especially similar.
- Spirit Base looks like the "ancient ruins" section of the Mandalay Bay Aquarium in Las Vegas.
- Bad eyecatch this year.
- These characters, Daigo in particular, have an overly cartoonish way of expressing their feelings. Of course this is par for the course for Toei shows by now but still, a little grounding won't kill you.
- The henshin dance is stupid, but I like that it's in real-time. I hope it stays that way; I never like those long drawn-out sequences where we see close-ups of the actors' faces, sometimes looking photoshopped onto the body.
- It seems Sentai has adapted Power Rangers' unpleasant habit of making corny, pointless remarks during fights. -___-
- Another year with horrible ED credits. This one didn't even feel like something for the show proper, rather some behind-the-scenes special or HBV.
Overall, this wasn't too bad. I don't care for the heroes (Daigo's not bad as far as the script but the execution is less than desirable), and the mechas are ugly, but I like the premise. But based on what I've been hearing from others, I should probably expect things to get much worse.
