It makes perfect sense. Zack Snyder wants to please Alan Moore, not caring at all that Moore plainly hates adaptations of his comics, faithful or not. Snyder wants to be loved, seeing as this superhero comic story as old as time is placed in his care. He wants the film to have Moore's seal of approval, and thinks that if Moore hates him, he fails. He's just plain insecure.
But then, let's remember that many British writers (and European ones, for that matter!) are legendary for hating adaptations of their stories, some they would never see anyway. J.R.R. Tolkien, Roald Dahl, Michael Ende, etc. Alan Moore is no exception. (Of course, you have writers like Neil Gaiman and the late Astrid Lindgren, who worked more closely on some movies & TV shows they endorsed.)
Why not? Moore's comments about superhero comics nowadays are spot on, and I share his sentiments. He's very upset that all superhero comics are now, as he calls them, "grim, nasty remakes of Watchmen." Nothing creative, nothing imaginative, no sense of wonder... just heavy-handed car-crash drama utilizing famous characters, done for cynical and exploitative purposes. I mean it. Watchmen did these things in a very thoughtful way in the context of the story. It's its own thing. A grown-up story. The basic DC and Marvel stuff should be for the younger set.
I still remember when Bumbling Joe Quesada went up to Alan Moore's booth at a convention and said, "I loved your work on Watchmen, so I'm going to make all of Marvel comics' stories inspired by Watchmen!" To which an appalled Moore responded in one word: "Why?"
Even Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy, one of the few superhero comics I follow, is guilty of being a Watchmen remake, but at least it didn't involve licensed characters ostensibly meant for children.
Even Darwyn Cooke, one of my favorite artists (who's done the most worthwhile stuff for DC, IMHO), had some very brutal things to say about superhero comics, especially DC and Marvel.

And he doesn't mean "for kids only," when he means younger readers (he also includes tweenagers, who barely even read comics, let alone teenagers), just make it acceptable to them, or comics will lose out on a new generation. And when they hear about Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, the Hulk, etc., they won't know of them from the comics, but from adaptations of them in movies and on TV. While the adaptations do a better job telling the basic story of these characters, the comics have to make some stupid decisions in their midst, like killing off Bruce Wayne in the wake of The Dark Knight's popularity.
Anyway... Zack Snyder's Superman...
