I think it's worth noting that I've found that just about every person on the internet that gets up in arms and tries to piss on the Bible and the Christian/Catholic faith, have never actually studied the book and what it says to any great depth.
Most often they simply judge the faith based on the worst examples of it's followers. I image that goes for other faiths as well.
I'm not a very religious person by any means. I haven't been in a church in years. But I'm grown up enough to recognize that the teachings of the Bible, while in some ways outdated, are generally good. I'm sure there are plenty of things said within the Bible (especially the New Testament) that many would do better to live by.
And Jesus was totally a rebel fighting against "the man." I mean, seriously dudes.

I'm not going to say anything specific about religion or creation just yet but I've never understood why people swear so avidly on the Bible when there's no telling who wrote it and for what purpose, and when taken at face value it's extremely ludicrous.
There's a reason they refer to it as "faith" you know. It isn't about necessarily about having the solid facts. I imagine the reasons vary for each person. Some might look for peace, others wisdom and yes, some just might like to be blindly led.
I don't honestly know much about the subject, but I understand that many scholars and historians (both secular and religious) have dedicated their time to understanding the Bible and it's history. I'm sure if we all took the time to look we might learn a thing or two.
