I love me some pan noodles and sushi... but while I was at Anime Central we stopped in this big uber Japan Mall place that was loaded to the motherlovin' gills with all the Japanese foods I see on their television shows, but never at any of the Japanese restraunts here in Wisconsin.

I got myself these.... fried squid ball things that I remember the Hajime look-a-like making in Kamen Rider Blade an they were delicious!

Megaranger.... first thing we do when we hit The Reactor is get us a mad Japanese meal at that mall, yo... I ain't kiddin'. I can't believe nobody brought up this idea while we were there.

Anyway... what's YOUR favorite Japanese dish and where do YOU get it from?

Sushi/Sashimi - Nearby Sushi Bar
Udon to tamago (Udon noodles with egg) - My mommy makes it
Onigiri filled with fish roe (not really a dish but more of a snack) - Japanese store near my place
Shabu-Shabu (Japanese style meat fondue) - Teppanyaki Bar in town
Yakitori (grilled chicken pieces on skewers)
Tonkatsu (deep fried pork cutlets)

I believe you are referring to "Mitsuwa Market Place", which is located in Arlington Heights, IL...I love going there. I used to live off of the teriyaki chicken and fried rice and the fried chicken meals, but I've been eating a bunch of other stuff. And the squid balls are delicious. Count me in for that when we go to the Reactor! Saturday night, though, I gotta take you guys to a pizza joint called "Lou Malnati's". They specialize in deep dish pizza, which is the best kind of pizza in Chicago. All I know is that after Reactor, I'm gonna be strapped for cash for a while after I try to buy tickets to a very popular wrestling event...

Some of my favorites:

Beef Teriyaki- marinated beef
Yakisoba- fried soba noodles
Teppanyaki- grilled meat & vegetables
Sukiyaki- Meat & vegetables cooked in a sort of stew
Takoyaki-octopus dumplings
Taikyaki-fish-shaped pancake filled with bean jam
Oyakodon- rice topped with chicken & egg
Gyuudon- rice topped with beef & onions
Tempura- batter-fried meat & vegetables
Yakiniku- Korean-styled barbecued meat & vegetables
Ramen- Chinese-style noodles
Zarusoba- cold soba noodles
Grilled Ayu- grilled sweetfish
Grilled Ika- grilled squid
Melonpan- Melon Bread

Some of these I can get at local restaraunts, but some I've only ever gotten in Japan.

Ramen (Any)
Sushi (Dragon Roll)
Sashimi (Eel)
Teriyaki (Chicken)
Tempura (Shrimp)
Shumai (Shrimp)
Those little Rice Balls or Rice Triangles with the seaweed wrapped on them.
BREAD!!!!
Pocky (Strawberry)
Bubble Tea (Strawberry)
Ramune
Edamame

I swear eating NOTHING but Japanese food will keep you fit, how many fat Japanese do you know of?

I'm mostly addicted to Chinese food, so I'm not really sure if I've even had any traditional Japanese dishes. Although, I must say that I LOVE me some Pocky! :D
